We live in an era when technology has rapidly taken over our lives. Times are changing and modern innovations seem to be the only constant thing in this world. In a society where people spend most of their time on smartphones, gushing about the latest gadgets or those influencers on Instagram and how they seem to live a perfect life, discernment is old-school while being shallow have more chances of getting you ahead. Keeping up with the trend has been a habit for Filipinos for as long as I can remember. It seems like we have this need to prove the world that we too are a great race. In the process, we have drifted far away from our traditions. Our culture, sadly, is on the brink of extinction. We have never come close to being greatly renowned than we have now but I’m afraid, the essence of our being Filipino is at the deepest low.

This is when we need something to connect us back to our roots. Something that would remind us of how rich our culture is and how amazing were our traditions. Our myths and legends may have not been published in several different languages but they are equally as epic. That’s what the world of Lambana is about and more. Allow me to tell you why I love it and why I think you would too.

What To Love About Lambana

1. It allows us to confront our once greatest fears.

Remember that “kapre” your grandmother once told you to scare you from getting out of the house or that “dwende” she says will make fun of you and make your mouth bigger when you talk back, those creatures reign the world of Lambana. Whether they are nice or mean is totally up to you.

2. We get to embark on our very own fairytale adventure.

Lambana is an enchanting place that anything out of the ordinary can happen. Whether you’d be a heroine or a damsel in distress is completely your choice. This mystical place will move according to how you would like your story to end. A happy ever after or a tragic fate, we’ll never really know.

3. It teaches us that there are forces more powerful than what meets the eye.

Technology is all around us. The more we progress, the more we drown ourselves to things we think could make our lives better. What we fail to see is that we have everything we need even before the first machine was invented. Don’t get me wrong. Technology is amazing but not if it’s at the expense of nature. The sooner we realize this, the lesser the consequences to come biting us in the neck.

LAMBANA: Everything To Know And Love About This Enchanting World

4. It connects us ever more deeply to our culture.

I don’t know about you but I guess the last generation to have played in the streets, all soiled and sweaty, will take the remnants of our culture to their graves. The younger generation doesn’t seem to have the slightest connection to our once rich culture. Lambana is not the entirety of it and only a part but it certainly could teach the young ones a thing or two.

5. We could learn a lot about ourselves and the characters in the play.

If we would only allow ourselves to get lost in the world of Lambana, there are tons of things that we could learn. It could teach us about family and friendships. It could teach us something about ourselves when confronted by fear, betrayal and difficult circumstances. It could teach us not to trust easily but that it is sometimes worth the risk. That not all sparkly and pretty are good and the dark and hideous are bad.

6. It is worth your time and your money

Lambana is like no other. It’s a unique experience you can share with your family and friends. The set and the characters are amazing. They go the extra mile to make the experience realistic and memorable. It’s definitely not a waste of your time and worth every single penny.
