Kenny Rogers Roasters is one of my go-to restaurants when I feel like eating healthy yet delicious food. But before it even became that way, I remember always shying away from it because I thought I couldn’t afford it. This innocent girl from the province has always been wary of fine-looking restaurants and has often opted for the well-loved Jollibee and McDonald’s because they appeal more to my budget. Things changed when I finally summoned the courage to explore the culinary scene. Now, I just get curious, still skeptical about the cost at times but always willing to try just like when I first heard about the Chimichurri Chicken. And when I finally tasted it, my mouth was just singing in the tune of contrasting flavors.
Chimichurri is a type of sauce made of finely chopped parsley, oregano, and garlic mixed with olive oil and wine vinegar. At first, I thought it was odd to see Nico Bolzico on TV promoting this dish as it sounded Japanese to me. But it turns out, the chimichurri is of Spanish and Argentinian origin. I should have been quick to realize that since I love Chimichanga and they sound a bit the same (at least for me) though they’re completely different. I have always loved Kenny’s roasted chicken. I think it’s one of the best in the market, if not the best, but the chimichurri made it even more spectacular. I think the chimichurri is the best thing to ever happen to Kenny Rogers Roasters.
The roasted chicken of Kenny Rogers is already flavorful on its own. I like its savory and peppery taste. Their chickens are always cooked to my preference. Perfectly roasted yet juicy. I’m not really into gravy but the mouth-watering flavor of the chicken makes me appreciate it. It’s always the star to each meal that is complemented well by their salads and other sides. The chimichurri joining the scene is an absolute upgrade. It transformed every meal into something that my palate takes days to forget or always looks forward to. I just love it so much I can have this dish every day for weeks.
Not only that the chimichurri is best with Kenny Rogers’ roasted chicken, but it also does wonders to its roasted ribs too. The barbecue sauce, as we all know, already makes it heavenly but slathering a generous amount of chimichurri to the fall-apart tenderness of its ribs is pure joy in the mouth. The taste is just mind-blowing. And when I think the sides are getting boring, the chimichurri sauce can spice it all up for me. Really! There’s just no end to what this simple sauce can do. Everything seems to go perfectly with it. It’s like the ultimate sauce. That one sauce I need in my life.
I sound like a total fan as I wrote this post and my bias clearly shows but I think it’s justified. I just can’t hide my delight to have come across chimichurri that I even looked myself up for its recipe. And even though I can make one at home, I still wish that the chimichurri chicken becomes a regular on Kenny Rogers Roasters menu. Like it’s what my taste buds are always looking forward to whenever I think of dining at this restaurant so I can only imagine my disappointment if I can’t have it.

There you go, lovelies! Special mention to the quesadilla as it also became one of my favorites. Doesn’t taste as authentic but it sure makes me happy every time. What are your thoughts about the chimichurri chicken? Share them in the comments. Until the next food trip. See you!
